Supermarket Bingo

April 18, 2015

St. Kevin Catholic Academy Parents Association (“APA”) will be hosting out 12th Annual Supermarket Bingo Fundraising event in 4 months.
What is Supermarket Bingo?
Supermarket Bingo (SMB) is one of our main fundraising events for the school. For the past 6 years, SMB has raised over $100,000. It is a spin on traditional Bingo where prizes can be won by matching all of the “called” numbers on a ticket consisting of a deck of playing cards. SMB is a fun adult-only evening, where you can socialize and help support our school.
What are the prizes?
The winner of a Bingo round receives a bag of groceries. There are several winners per Bingo round, and we target approximately 125 grocery bag prizes during the course of the evening. In addition, there are three levels of raffles – red, black, and grand; the winners of these receive prizes such as sporting event tickets, gift certificates and gift cards to local restaurants and stores, and plenty of “themed” baskets. Back by popular demand will also be our annual tuition raffle and 50/50 chance.
How do we get our prizes?
Most of our prizes are generously donated by our families and area merchants. We have solicitation teams go to local establishments to request donations for our school. If you have a contact with someone who would be willing to make a donation for SMB, please see me and I will get you a solicitation letter. In the past families have donated items such as a bicycle, gift certificates to their family restaurants, or table sponsor donations from their businesses. ***If you receive a Christmas gift that is “just not right”, please consider recycling the item by donating it to SMB so it can be used as one of our raffle prizes***
How do the St. Kevin Families help make this event a success?
Families will be requested to make contributions in a few ways. (Details will follow in mid-January.) First, each child will be assigned grocery items to donate. Secondly, through your class delegate, you will be asked to contribute to a class themed basket that will be one of the raffle prizes. Third, we hope that you will participate in our school tuition raffle. Finally, we look forward to you joining us at the event as either a volunteer or as a night out to play BINGO.
What opportunities are there to volunteer?
There are many areas where help is needed. For families that need to fulfill their Loving Hands Services Hours, this will be one of the last opportunities for the 2014/2015 school year. Assistance is needed as solicitors or sponsors, BINGO night workers, security, set up and decorating, basket packaging, baking and clean up. You can sign up for the area that you are willing to assist at the next APA meeting in the school cafeteria.
IMPORTANT BINGO 2015 DATES:
Basket packaging: Saturday April 11 at 6:00 pm in the St. Joseph Room (right after 5:00 mass)
Set up and decorating: Friday April 17 at 7:30 in the Parish Center

St. Kevin Catholic Academy

Our Mission

St. Kevin Catholic Academy is committed to the belief that the ultimate goal of education is to develop the whole person. We aspire to teach as Jesus did, focusing attention on HIS message through daily living, by being “truly kind and gentle to each and every one”. We follow this example set by Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, first educators at St. Kevin. We are convinced that the academic, social, physical, technological and cultural objectives we hope to achieve in the educative process flow from this belief.
Our paramount concern is to prepare the children for their role in the global community. We are a family rooted in the Gospel values with a sustained emphasis on living with Christ as our model.
